I've been thinking some about fan art. I'm not a big fan myself of the phenomenon but I understand it. And what a great way to establish yourself by saluting your old heroes. If you remake a classic concept, let's say TMNT. Make them feel new and give them a contemporary look. Not some nostalgic thing of the past, you might just find yourself noticed, since you enhance something that everybody knows and can relate to. It will probably (if good) travel through fan forums and appear in google searches and what not, and eventually find itself on the screen of a producer/company owner that likes it so much that he/she might just go all the way and contact you. It's an exceptional way to get yourself established.
So why don't I do it? Cus I've never seen it in this light before. I still don't see the use of it if you just paint the motive, so let's say Link, as he is. You have to interpret, not transfer.
I should do some fan art sometime. Dig up something unexpected and old and put it in a new light...
